Dark Night of the Soul
My Experience — Journal Entry From Ground Zero (of Ego)
What you have built, what you think you have, is gone, you find yourself, again, at ground zero.
It brings you close to death. The rebuilding process- long and arduous.
When I enter a dark night, it doesn’t seem like nothing can help, NOTHING WILL HELP.
It is easy to get lost in despair and hopelessness. But it is imperative to understand that the purpose of a dark night is not punishment, it is not even an indicator that anything is wrong. . .
A dark night calls you to change.
It calls you to experience a complete reassessment of what you think you know.
Reevaluating what you think you have.
It is a doorway through which the soul can emerge, at the expense of the pleasures of the flesh: freer, stronger, and closer to a depth deeper than the conscious mind can fathom: Heightening in the level of self-realization. It forces you to learn persistence, and surrender. You have no choice but to find yourself, in the dark.
You can’t sugar-coat a dark night. The only way “out” is through- months, years, & sometimes decades.
The dark night reveals the deep-rooted attachments that define your ego’s identity, serving to ultimately free your soul from their grasp.
What beliefs do you have about life and how it should be lived?
Gone.
What do you feel entitled to?
Gone.
What are your surface identifications that are not necessarily true to your core Self?
Destroyed.
What are your beliefs about life that are simply not true?
Revealed.
A dark night calls you to access humility and meet Wisdom, through the Force of nature.
It calls you to become RE-CREATED- in the dark, as an infant, but you’ll remember everything.
The dark night showed me I am my best friend.
