It tears down others and makes us feel powerful only temporarily. Soon, we realize all it does is erode our conscience and tarnish our soul, leaving a bitter aftertaste.

Gossip is tempting like forbidden fruit.

But once indulged, it reveals its rotten core, causing decay in those who partake - numbing their souls. Gossip and slander are initially enticing, yet their aftermath is profoundly bitter.

Gossip Kills Three People:

1. The Gossiper

It feeds their ego, making them feel superior momentarily. But gossip soon becomes an addiction, poisoning their heart and soul as it spreads. Over time, they become bitter, cynical, and narrow-minded. Their hearts harden and their sight dims.

Instead of satisfying them, gossip ultimately lowers their self-esteem and distrust in others. It chips away at the gossipers humanity.

2. The Listener

They provide a vessel for gossip to spread its destructive effects like wildfire. The listener’s mind becomes clouded, quick to judge and lacking clarity and compassion.

3. The One Gossiped About

Gossip dehumanizes them. Instead of being valued for their qualities, they become objects of scrutiny and judgment focusing on superficial details and distorting facts.

They are judged based on rumors rather than who they truly are. The dust cast upon them kills a piece of their spirit. In the end, all three lose.

Gossip sows seeds of distrust, ill will & negativity.

But we can break this cycle by choosing kinder speech - speaking truth with love and empathy and midst importantly don’t participate in gossip, zip your lips.

A dishonest man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.

Proverbs 16:28

Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with a simple babbler.

Proverbs 20:19

For lack of wood the fire goes out, and where there is no whisperer, quarreling ceases.

Proverbs 26:20

Let’s make this our goal.

As Proverbs says: "Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with a simple babbler."

Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered.

Proverbs 11:13

Treat others as we wish to be treated. All humans deserve dignity and compassion. Let's weigh our words with wisdom and care.
